Documentary Release In Time for National Invasive Species Awareness Week

This coming March 3rd through the 8th is National Invasive Species Awareness Week. You might be thinking, “Hmm, that’s interesting but what does this mean to me?”

Maine’s trees – in the forests, neighborhoods, and city streets – face real threats from invading species. National Invasive Species Awareness Week is a great time to become informed and be an advocate for Maine’s trees.

Learning more is easy. Below you’ll find a link to Fieldstone’s short documentary “Foes of the Forests: Maine’s Trees at Risk from Invasive Insects” that was produced for the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (MDACF). If you’re short on time, you can view the 30-second public service announcement that covers the importance of becoming informed about these insect invaders.

Look for these pests in your trees and forests, and if you think you have seen any of these species, contact the MDACF at 207-287-2431 or email bugwatchme.agr@maine.gov.
